Fazeley Town Council at Antiques Roadshow

IMG_1332The BBC’s Antiques Roadshow team rolled into Birmingham today (20th April) and was greeted by bright sunshine and crowds of people hoping to find their items are valuable.

Mayor of Fazeley, Cllr Andrew James, joined the long queue with the original hand written Fazeley Parish Council minutes book dating back to 1894.

After a patient hour’s wait in the long queue Andrew was whisked to the front to meet the BBC’s press officer, who then took him to meet the Books and Manuscripts expert Dominic Winter.

Cllr James gave Mr Winter a brief history of Fazeley Parish and Town Council and showed him the Parish minutes book, pointing out the first Parish Precept set in December 1894 for £30.00 which is slightly lower than the Precept of £57,000 for 2011/12.

Cllr James said, “It was great to be able to share this small piece of Fazeley history today and it was also nice to so many people speak to me about both the minutes and the Mayoral chain.”
