50 Metre High Wind Turbine to Be Erected After Planning Appeal

Chris Pincher MP windfarmsThe erection of a 50-metre high wind turbine will go ahead at Tamworth’s motorway service area after planning inspectors upheld the appeal from Moto Hospitality Ltd against North Warwickshire Borough Council.

In March 2012, the North Warks BC Planning committee rejected the initial application from Moto Hospitality Ltd after opposition from North Warwickshire MP Dan Byles and Tamworth’s MP Christopher Pincher and local residents.

Despite all of the objections, the Inspector approved the scheme, saying, “In the local area there is little scope for panoramic views and the turbine would generally only be visible between buildings and in most views it would be seen as being within the complex of the motorway services area.”

Residents and objectors are now awaiting the appeal hearing for the erection of a 50-metre high weather mast, also at the Tamworth Moto service station.  The planning application was refused by Tamworth Borough Council’s Planning committee in September 2012.
