Francis Report on Stafford Hospital Out Today

Stafford hospitalThe long-awaited Francis report on Stafford Hospital will be made public today.

The report, which follows the public inquiry Between November 2010 and December 2011, was handed to the Secretary of State for Health yesterday and will be laid before Parliament this morning, and the Prime Minister will deliver a statement to the House of Commons following Prime Minister’s Questions.

This inquiry, chaired by Robert Francis QC, looked at why regulators and senior NHS managers failed to pick up what was happening and heard from more than 160 witnesses gave evidence.

A full public inquiry had been promised in opposition by the Conservatives and soon after becoming Prime Minister, David Cameron announced its launch.
