Good Response to Employment Help Drop-In Event

jobA drop-in event to give jobseekers help and advice on looking for work, training or starting up their own business attracted more than 100 people.

The event, at Tamworth Assembly Rooms, was organised by the Employment Action Group.  The group is made up of a number of organisations including Tamworth Borough Council, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Bromford Housing Group, Community Together, South Staffordshire College, the Careers Service, Tamworth Library, Business Development Service and Volunteer Centre Tamworth.

Representatives from a number of those agencies were on hand to offer help and advice to jobseekers, as well as pointing them towards the range of services available to support unemployed people.

Around 100 people visited the event, which was deemed a success by the partners involved.

Cllr Steve Claymore, Cabinet member for Economic Development and Enterprise, said, “Tamworth Borough Council is pleased to be able to play a role in helping people to find work and giving them the skills needed for employment.

“The organisations which were there to give help, support and advice were very pleased with the turnout.  Thanks should be given to everyone who helped make the event a success.”

More information on the services offered by partners in the Employment Action Group is available on the Tamworth Borough Council website.
