The Live Life to the Full in Belgrave project is being funded by Tamworth Borough Council over the next three years and run by Groundwork West Midlands.
Belgrave people have been asked to get involved and tell Groundwork West Midlands which activities they would like to see run as part of the programme. And on Sunday, free taster sessions giving people the chance to try their hands at kayaking and BMX biking will be held at Tamworth Enterprise College from 1.45 to 4pm.
The taster afternoon will be followed by a weekly early morning swimming session, which will take place at the Tamworth Enterprise College pool every Tuesday morning from 7.15 to 8.15am. The first session starts on Tuesday June 25 and the cost is £2.50 per session.
To book a place at Sunday’s free taster session or the swimming sessions, please contact Amit Dattani at Groundwork West Midlands on 0121 530 5647.
Groundwork will continue to develop the Live Life to the Full in Belgrave healthy lifestyles programme, which could include basketball, yoga, football and zumba. The programme aims to improve the health and lifestyles of people living in Belgrave, with activities being run for both adults and young people, aged between 12 and 18.
Tamworth Borough Council is investing £10,000 in the project each year over the next three years.
Cllr Jeremy Oates, Cabinet member for Community Development, said, “Improving the health and wellbeing of the people of the town is one of Tamworth Borough Council’s top priorities.
“This is a good opportunity for people living in Belgrave to get involved in physical activities, and we would encourage people to go along to the taster sessions this Sunday and to sign up for the regular swimming sessions.”
