Conservative Controlled Council Gets £4.5m to Repair Potholes

pothole repairConservative Controlled Staffordshire County Council is to get £4½m of government funding to repair potholes.

It was one of the larger individual awards included in a £168m package for local authorities in England announced on Friday and it is expected to allow the repair of some 86,000 potholes in the county.

The Department for Transport said the funding had been awarded to those councils that “demonstrate best practice in highways maintenance”.

Last year, Staffordshire County Council said it was having to repair more than 300 potholes every week to clear a backlog of road repairs.
