Councillors to Scrutinise Cycle Path Provision in Tamworth

Tamworth cycle pathIn the week the Tour de France peddles off in England, Tamworth’s Borough councillors have stated they will be scrutinising the town’s cycle path provision.

At last Tuesday’s meeting of the Healthier & Safer scrutiny committee, Deputy Chairman Cllr Allan Lunn proposed the committee look at the cycle routes into the town centre from all areas of the Borough. Members agreed with the suggestion and tasked Cllr Lunn with heading a sub group to make contact with Staffordshire County Council for details of the their current and future plans for Tamworth’s cycle paths and report back to the committee at a future meeting with any proposals.

After the meeting Cllr Lunn, “The driver for this is to provide safer access and encourage our residents to live a healthier lifestyle.”

The next meeting of the Healthier & Safer committee is due to take place on Thursday 18th September at 6pm in committee room 1 of Marmion House, Lichfield St, Tamworth.
