There are 672 fewer people claiming Job Seekers Allowance than this time last year and a 42 fewer than in September. There are now just 473 people in Tamworth without work – only 1% of the economically active population between 16 and 64.
Commenting on the figures Mr Pincher said, “This is good news for our town and of course for the people who have now found work. I think it is further evidence that the government’s long-term economic plan is delivering and all the effort to get our economy back in track is paying off.
“However, we cannot be complacent and the government, the council and I must continue to work to attract new businesses and more jobs to our area.”
Tamworth now ranks 587th of the 650 United Kingdom constituencies for employment where 1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.
