Tamworth’s MP Welcomes English Votes for English Laws

Christopher Pincher MP 22Christopher Pincher, MP for Tamworth, has welcomed the proposals announced by the Government to give English MPs a veto over matters which only affect England, delivering on a Conservative Party election promise.

Mr Pincher said, “With more powers going to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland it is important that we achieve a fair settlement for all parts of our United Kingdom.

“That is why this Conservative Government has set out proposals which will give English MPs a veto over matters which are devolved in the rest of the United Kingdom and affect only English constituencies.  This will mean the end to the anomaly that would allow for the majority of English MPs to be outvoted on measures by MPs whose constituents would be unaffected by the measures.”
