Local MP Tells Residents to Check to See if They Qualify for a Cold Weather Payment

cash moneyTamworth’s MP, Christopher Pincher, says some local constituents could be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment of £25.

Constituents will be eligible for this payment if they receive Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit.

The Cold Weather Payment is paid to those eligible if the temperature in the local area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below for 7 consecutive days.  The Cold Weather Payment scheme runs from 1 November 2015 to 31 March 2016.

Mr Pincher said, “Despite the very mild weather we have enjoyed so far this winter, it is important that people are aware if they are eligible for this payment in light of the weather warnings for the near future.

“I encourage anyone who thinks they may be eligible to contact Job Centre Plus, the CAB or me.  My office number is 01827 312778.”
