Christopher Pincher Welcomes Royal Mail Contribution in Tamworth

Royal MailMP for Tamworth, Christopher Pincher, has welcomed published data showing the Royal Mail’s social contribution in Tamworth.

The Royal Mail employs 287 people in the Tamworth constituency.  In 2014-15 alone these employees played a huge role in our local community.  Over the last year local employees donated £5,517 to local causes and they are part of a Guinness World Record team for the most charities supported by a payroll giving scheme backing 975 charities nationally.

Mr Pincher said, “The news of the Royal Mail’s huge contribution in Tamworth reflects the great progress of our local and national economy, and the good spirited nature of local people. As businesses prosper, employees and communities benefit – and the Royal Mail business is leading the way in giving back to the community.”

Liz Heinemann, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Royal Mail, commented, “Royal Mail is proud to play a major role in every community across the UK including Tamworth constituency.

“Last year Royal Mail was ranked first of all Transport and Transport Infrastructure businesses in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. We also became the first delivery business to be award triple certification by the Carbon Trust Standard for carbon, water and waste.”
