Police Launch Investigation Following Suspicious Incident in Tamworth

Staffordshire Police are investigating the report of a man stopping his van by a 12-year-old boy who was walking his dog and then attempting to grab the boy by his jumper.

Luckily, the boy was able to kick him in the leg and run away.  However, the offender continued to pursue the boy but fortunately, his dog bit the offender on the leg.

The incident took place on Coton Lane, Tamworth, at around 9pm on Monday night (19 March).

The offender is described as a white male in his mid-40s, stocky build, approximately 5ft 8in tall and wearing a black bobble hat.

Chief Inspector Ashley Farrington, Commander for Tamworth Borough Local Policing Team, said: “We’d like to reassure parents that we are following all lines of enquiry and doing everything we can to locate the vehicle and offender.  We have also increased police patrols in the area.

“Can I stress though that this kind of situation is incredibly rare and at this point we are unsure why this happened.  We do though take it seriously and want to trace the man urgently.

“If anyone has any information that could assist with our investigation please call us on 101 quoting incident 794 of 19 March.  We encourage anyone who sees any suspicious activity in their community to report it to the police immediately.”
